Man Charged In String Of Armed Robberies At Convenience Stores

AURORA, IL — A Wheaton man has been charged with multiple felony counts of armed robbery in relation to a string of robberies in Aurora in February and March, police announced in a news release.
Gregory Lee Garner, 27, was arrested Friday. Aurora Police said they interviewed witnesses and obtained forensic evidence at each of the five scenes that lead them to Garner.
On Feb. 22, police responded to For More Liquor on the 100 block of South Broadway Street after a report of an armed robbery. Witnesses said one suspect entered the store with a gun, demanded money, cigarettes and liquor and left, according to police.

The next day, another armed robbery was reported at the same store. This time, police said witnesses saw three people enter, two with handguns, and demand money, cigarettes and liquor again.
Two days later, officers responded to One Stop on the 200 block of South Lake Street where witnesses said two men entered the store, one with a handgun.

On March 1, police said they responded to the 7-Eleven on the 1600 block of Montgomery Road for a robbery with two suspects, one of whom was armed.
The next week on March 8, police were dispatched to For More Liquor for the third time for an armed robbery where a man displayed a handgun, police wrote.
Police did not immediately respond to questions if any more suspects were in custody.
Garner is currently being held at the Kane County Jail with a bail of $500,000.
