Man Shot In Arm: Aurora Police

Police say the suspect shouted a gang slogan before he opened fire.

AURORA, IL — A possible gang-related shooting landed one victim in the hospital last Tuesday, Nov. 14. Two men were walking south on Ohio Street near Harriet Avenue around 6:26 p.m. when they found themselves under gunfire. Police say the suspect was standing on the northwest corner of that intersection and yelled a gang slogan before opening fire. Both men ran from the scene, but one was shot in the arm. He didn’t seek treatment until the next evening.

The shooter was described as a five-foot-five, 120-pound Hispanic man in his early 20s. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. Police say those shots also hit homes in the 400 block of Ohio Street.

In a separate incident, property damage by gunfire was reported Nov. 18. At around 3:45 a.m., an apartment building in the 1300 block of W. Indian Trail and a car parked in that lot were struck. Police say a car hastily leaving the scene was described as a tan sedan, similar to a Toyota Corolla, with dark tinted windows and doors with primer paint on them. There were no injuries and police are looking for information.
