Age 76, of Shorewood, IL, passed peacefully on Thursday April 11, 2019 after a hard fought battle with glioblastoma. He died surrounded by his loved ones at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Edward was born June 28, 1942 to the late Rosemary (Winckler) and Albert Bohr in Aurora, IL where he spent his childhood.
He was the beloved husband to the late Lillian (Kiesling) Bohr (2013); loving father of Janice (James) McMillen; proud grandfather of James McMillen and Kristen McMillen (fiancé Jordan Tate); dear brother to Rosemarie (Larry) Brookner, Marilyn (Ben) Hollesen, the late Kathleen Bohr, Robert (Jane) Bohr, Joan (Michael) Tomse, and Richard (Susan) Bohr. He is also survived many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edward and Lillian Bohr resided in Elmhurst, IL for many years where they were members of Visitation Parish. After living in New Jersey for a brief period, and returning to IL, Edward joined Holy Family Parish. He took great pride in his faith, demonstrated by his loyal service as an usher and to the Knights of Columbus as a fourth degree knight of over 40 years. Known by many, as The Mayor of High St, Edward’s outgoing personality and kindness towards others made him an integral member of the community. A dependable man, he enjoyed a game of cards or bowling match with his closest friends.
Visitation for Edward Bohr will be held Tuesday April 16, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services Wednesday morning 9:15 a.m. from the Funeral Home to Holy Family Catholic Church, at 600 Brookforest Ave. (Rt. 59) in Shorewood, IL where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
