Paul T. Urso

Paul Thomas Urso, age 74, of Shorewood the past 11 years, and formerly of Aurora and Bolingbrook, passed away peacefully Friday, January 25, 2019, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born August 4, 1944, in Chicago, he was the son of Nicholas and Frances (Samario) Urso. He was a graduate of Weber High School, Chicago, and later attended Lewis University. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and the Army Reserve, serving during the Vietnam War.

Paul worked in management, logistics and purchasing for several organizations including Anixter, Inc., Skokie.

A selfless, dedicated, and caring family man, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was hard working and instilled his good work ethic in all his children. He enjoyed all types of music and had a terrific sense of humor. Paul was also an avid sports fan and coached his children’s little league teams.

Surviving are his beloved wife, Barbara S. (Berrier) Urso of Shorewood; three children, Nicholas Urso of Montgomery, Karyn (Bryan) Weimer of Montgomery, and Amy (fiancé Evan Jacobsen) Urso of Shorewood; two grandchildren, Bryan II and Lilyana Weimer; one brother, Peter (Sandy) Urso of Hoffman Estates; one sister, Francine (Martin) Meyer of Chicago; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul and Barb also loved and cared for several foster children, including Aja Devaney who also survives.

He was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Urso in 2011; and his parents and grandparents.

Visitation for Paul Urso will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. A funeral service and military honors will immediately follow the visitation at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.
