Paramount Theatre Delays Performances 1 Year Due To Coronavirus
"Our lights are merely dimmed right now, and after this intermission, they will shine brighter than ever," Paramount Theatre's CEO said.

AURORA, IL — Performances will not return to Aurora’s Paramount Theatre until at least April 2021. Tim Rater, president and CEO of Paramount Theatre, announced Friday that all performances scheduled for the 2020-21 season will be pushed back a full year due to the coronavirus.
“Despite our best efforts, we can’t find a path forward for this season,” Rater said in a letter to patrons. “We don’t know when a vaccine will be developed and available or when capacity restrictions will be lifted, but we do know that, for the foreseeable future, it would be difficult to do shows and keep everyone safe.”

Speaking alongside Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin in May, Rater — who also leads the Aurora Civic Center Authority — said he and his team were working to reschedule this summer’s slate of performances at Paramount Theatre and RiverEdge Park. Most had already agreed in May to new dates next year, Rater said.

Ticketholders who renewed for the 2020-21 season will have their payments automatically applied for shows during the 2021-22 season, Rater said. Customers will receive tickets with updated show information prior to the start of the new season.
After coordinating seating for all renewing customers, Paramount staff will reach out to customers who preordered tickets for the 2020-21 season, Rater said. Preorders will be honored in the order they were made, Rater said.

“It warms my heart that so many subscribers have renewed their subscription for next season,” Rater said. “We are grateful for your patience and support as we continue to find our way through these challenging times.”
