Pierogi Food Truck Donates Hundreds Of Meals To Aurora Hospital

AURORA, IL — Gandi Falcon, owner of Holy Pierogi has lived in Aurora for 30 years, so he has seen the city in both its brightest and darkest moments. When the new coronavirus crisis hit, Falcon's business was impacted, but he realized he could help by making meals to brighten the day for local hospital workers.

Falcon told Patch "[J]ust like everyone else our family has been affected by [the coronavirus]. We realized early on that the need to help one [an]other was going to be critical, so I started thinking on ways we can be of service."

Falcon said he was inspired by "all the sacrifices and unbelievable work all the hospital workers do for our communities." Falcon and his team at Holy Pierogi got to work on National Doctors' Day, March 30, to make more than 600 meals for the staff at Aurora's AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center.

Falcon told Patch the workers "loved the pierogi" and were "very appreciative of the gesture."

Falcon added, "[F]or us, [this] is a small act compared to the amazing work they do and putting their lives on the line for our community."

As Falcon told Patch, "I believe that we are on this together and we need to support each other."
