A Slot Machine Romance At Bulldogs Restaurant
"I never thought I could meet the woman of my dreams on a Sunday afternoon while having a bloody Mary."

For this month's Love In A Small Town feature, we asked Patch readers to tell us the story behind their romantic chance encounters. This is Peter Fichtner's story:
“It was a Sunday afternoon on April 24, 2016. There I was, having lunch at Bulldogs Restaurant in North Aurora. Across the bar were two women doing the same. One of the women and I kept sharing quick glances at each other, but neither of us seemed very interested.
As time went on that same woman went over to talk to a friend who was playing one of there slot machines. I decided to play a little myself, so I walked over to try my luck. What happened next was better than hitting any jackpot!
As I walked up to the machines and that same woman turned around, looked at me with these gorgeous hazel eyes and a smile that would melt any man’s heart. She said hello, and I knew I was in trouble.
After we’d been sitting and chatting for a while, her friend decided to go. That gave us some time to talk amongst ourselves. We were both just getting out of long-term relationships. As time went by I realized I was falling for her. We continued to sit and talk for hours discussing our lives. By the end of the night I had fallen in love.
Three days later we both reiterated that we loved each other. I never thought I could meet the woman of my dreams on a Sunday afternoon while having a bloody Mary. Almost two years later having shared many wonderful times, we are still deeply in love. So, anybody out there looking for Mr. or Ms. Right, don’t give up! They will walk into your life and change it forever when you least expect it.”
