AURORA, IL — Aurora residents are bracing for yet more snow Thursday, with a storm set to bring up to 5 inches of snow to the area.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Kane County region that runs until noon Friday. Snowfall started around 1 p.m. Thursday and could get heavier towards the evening.

There is a slight chance of snow before 7 a.m. Friday, with flurries likely after that, according to the NWS. There will be a high near 14 degrees Friday. Gusts as high as 35 mph are possible with a 20 percent chance of precipitation.

Coronavirus Restrictions Loosen Again As Aurora Moves To Phase 4

The weather service said there could be low visibility due to the snow and blowing snow, as well as snow and ice covered roads. Conditions will be hazardous during the Thursday evening commute, with gusty winds and blowing snow causing sharply reduced visibility. The heaviest snowfall rates will be between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday.

Aurora got more than 8 inches of snow during last weekend's snowstorm, according to the National Weather Service.
