Social Media Attempted Murder Gets Man 12 Years
Aaron Tolamac was sentenced to 12 years at the Illinois Dept. of Corrections for coaxing a victim out of their house through social media.

AURORA, IL — An Aurora man who tried to murder someone in July 2016 was sentenced to 12 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Aaron Tolamac, 22, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in exchange for the sentence, which was secured by the Kane County State's Attorney Oct. 4. Tolamac has a history of run-ins with the law.
During the court hearing, details were given about the attempted murder. On July 21 of 2016 at about 2:15 in the afternoon, the victim received a message on social media asking him to step outside of his house on North Fourth Street. When he did, Tolamac fired four shots from a .45 caliber handgun and fled, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
According to Illinois law, Tolamac must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. He receives credit for at least 435 days served in the Kane County Jail.
