Sugar Grove Woman Crashes Into Police Car, Gets Charged With DUI: Sheriff
She 'just barely missed' a police officer, according to the Yorkville PD Deputy Chief

Mary O'Connor Verhagen was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after she crashed into a Yorkville Police car near Route 47 and Waterpark Way just before 1:30 a.m. on Friday, according to the Sheriff's Department.
A Yorkville police officer was pulled off to the right side of the road investigating a separate crash when Verhagen hit the left rear portion of his squad car. Her vehicle glanced off the police car and “just barely missed” a Yorkville police officer, according to Yorkville Police Deputy Chief Larry Hilt.
The officer, who was in front of his vehicle had to move out of the way to avoid being hit. The crash resulted in damage to the police car’s left rear quarter panel, left rear tire and rim and the left running board. After an investigation deputies determined that Verhagen was intoxicated. There were no injuries in the incident.
