Sunday Shootings Left One Injured In Aurora

Aurora Police were on the scene of two shooting incidents that occurred within a mile of each other Sunday evening. One woman was injured.

AURORA, IL—Two shootings, occurring within a mile of each other Sunday evening in Aurora, left one woman injured, police said.

Aurora police were called for reports of shots fired around 8:59 p.m. in the 100 block of North Ohio Street. Aurora Police Department spokesman Paris Lewbel said that as officers were responding to the scene a second call came into the 911 center. Lewbel said the caller reported that someone had potentially been shot.

Police found that an adult woman had been shot inside a home. She was transported to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries.

According to Lewbel, police believe the shots came from outside the home, then entered the home and struck the victim.

Detectives are investigating whether the Ohio Street shooting is related to a second shooting incident that occurred hours later in the 800 block of Fifth Avenue.

Lewbel said a home had been shot multiple times, but no one was reported as injured.
