Target In North Aurora To Stay Closed On Thanksgiving This Year
The Minneapolis-based retailer says "this isn't a year for crowds" and will begin offering holiday savings in October to keep shoppers safe.

NORTH AURORA, IL — Target announced Monday that it will keep all its stores closed on Thanksgiving this year — which falls on Nov. 26 — due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"This year more than ever, a joyful holiday will be inseparable from a safe one, and we're continuing to adjust our plans to deliver ease, value and the joy of the season in a way that only Target can," Target CEO Brian Cornell said in a news release. "The investments we've made in our business and our incredible team have enabled us to move with flexibility and speed to meet guests' changing needs during this global pandemic."

The Minneapolis-based retailer made this announcement just days after Walmart's decision to keep all its stores closed during Thanksgiving for the first time in three decades.
The Target store in North Aurora is located at 1800 Orchard Gateway Boulevard.

The company said that starting in October this year the "biggest holiday deals will be available earlier than ever, so you can shop safely and conveniently."

"Historically, deal hunting and holiday shopping can mean crowded events, and this isn't a year for crowds," Target said in the release.
Members of the free Target Circle loyalty program will also get updates on deals throughout the season, the company said.

"So kick back, relax and enjoy a long nap after you finish that last piece of Thanksgiving turkey," the release stated. "This season, you can count on getting extra-big savings without the extra-long lines, with plenty of opportunities to score the best deals on the hottest items both before and after Nov. 26."

Officials also announced it will make more than 20,000 items – including groceries – available for pick-up and delivery – a service that Target officials announced grew 278 percent in the first quarter when the pandemic impacted the shopping experience at grocery and big-box stores across the country.
