Three Aurora Teens Arrested On Drug, Weapon Charges: Sheriff

Kendall County Sheriffs smelled pot in a car, which led to the arrest of three Aurora teens, two facing firearms charges.

AURORA, IL — Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputies came across a suspicious looking parked car Nov. 18 at around 4:25 p.m. in the 4300 block of Klatt Street in Plano. Deputies notice the smell of pot from the inside of the car, which sparked an investigation. That led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, police said. Patricia Spangler, 18, of the 700 block of S. Lake Street in Aurora, is currently being held at the Kendall County Jail on the following charges:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
  • Unlawful possession of ammunition without a FOID card
  • Possession of a firearm without a FOID card
  • Endangering the life/health of a child.

Stephon Cotts, 19 years old from the 700 block of S. Lake Street in Aurora is in Kendall County lockup and charged with the following:

  • Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
  • Unlawful possession of ammunition without a FOID card
  • Possession of a firearm without a FOID card
  • Unlawful possession of cannabis (more than 10 grams but less than 30 grams).

  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

The teen was booked and release to the parents with an upcoming court date. The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office was assisted during this investigation by the Yorkville Police Department and the Plano Police Department.
