Warming Up Cars In The Cold, Bad Idea: Aurora Police
Several car thefts have recently taken place; police warn public not to leave them running.

AURORA, IL — Temperatures have dropped, making it tempting to leave your car running with the heat on before a commute. It's never worth it, police announced Thursday in a press release. The Aurora Police Department has recently received five reports of car thefts, all of them were left unattended while heating up.
The majority of vehicles found in those reports were taken by juveniles.
Even if the car is locked, all the crook needs to do is break a window, and they're home free in a matter of seconds, police warn.

Often, stolen cars are used for serious, violent crimes. One of those recently stolen cars was found close to a shooting in another town.
The public service announcement also mentions insurance companies don't cover this type of negligence, and police will issue a citation if they see a car left unattended on public property.
