Bolingbrook Animal Control Building Remains Vacant As Repairs Address Flood Damage

Bolingbrook's animal control building remains vacant and undergoing repairs following last month's flooding.

At least two feet of water leaked into the building April 18. Public Works employees used boats to evacuate cats and dogs. Animals were transported to a vet and placed in homes.

The village of Bolingbrook is seeking $200,000 for damages to both the animal control building and a water treatment plant, according to the Bolingbrook Reporter. The water treatment plant is fully operational.

The animal control building is located at 145 Royce Road, near Route 53. Royce was closed between Greene Road and Concord Lane for days due to flooding. The animal control building and water treatment plant sit between those two roads. 

About 75 Bolingbrook homes were also damaged in the flood, from flooding and mold growth to structural damage, according to the Reporter. Homeowners can apply for financial assistance by visiting disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.
