Bolingbrook Author Partners with Operation Christmas

A Bag for Santa, this year’s hot new Christmas Story, is about giving back -- and our Bolingbrook community has come together to do just that! Local author, Kendra Esbrook, recently published her first children’s book which encourages kids to donate toys at Christmas time. Together with Operation Christmas: Bolingbrook and Chick-fil-A Bolingbrook, a community wide toy drive has been put into action.

Join us on Monday, December 3rd at 6:00pm at Chick-fil-A (245 N. Weber Road in Bolingbrook). Bring a gently used or new toy to donate to Operation Christmas and receive a complimentary cookie from Chick-fil-A. You can meet the author of A Bag for Santa, hear a reading of the story, make crafts, and enjoy photos with Chick-fil-A’s very own Santa Cow.

“This whole idea started because I wanted a better Christmas tradition for my family,” said local author Kendra Esbrook. “Everyone wants to help out around the holidays, so I wrote a book to get kids involved. In A Bag for Santa, the kids gather old toys and leave them on Christmas Eve with a note telling Santa he can take them to fix up for other kids next year. When I learned about Operation Christmas Bolingbrook I knew we could make a big impact in our community together. Our local Chick-fil-A graciously offered to host and so this event was created!”

All toys donated will help benefit local families in need. Operation Christmas Bolingbrook has been serving our community for 46 years and takes exceptional efforts to ensure each struggling family receives the assistance they so greatly need.
