BOLINGBROOK, IL — Easter is right around the corner. And for kids — or, you know, youthful teens and adults — it's never too early to start thinking about hunting for colorful, candy-stuffed eggs. Easter comes pretty late this year, falling on Sunday, April 21. (Last year it was on April 11 and the year before that it fell on April 16).

As such, many egg hunts and other events across the country will be held either a day or a week before the holiday. Get your baskets ready, and have some fun at these upcoming Easter and egg hunt events in Bolingbrook:

Have the Slime of your life with the Easter Bunny

When: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, (ages 5 to 11)

Where: Annerino Community Center Arts & Crafts Room, 201 Recreation Drive

Details: The Easter Bunny will be at the slime-making event, where kids can make slime that can be colored, stretches, bubbles and smells like tulips, cotton candy, marshmallow, Peeps or other spring scents. There will also be a golden egg surprise for kids to take home in addition to their slime. More information: bolingbrookparks.org; purchase tickets here

Skate with the Easter Bunny

When: 1:10 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Saturday, April 13; 1 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Sunday, April 14

Where: Rocket Ice Skating Rink, 180 Canterbury Lane

Parkie's Egg Hunt

When: 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 19

Where: Pelican Harbor Aquatic Park, 200 Lindsey Lane

Details: Bags will be provided for participants to hunt for candy-filled eggs in the water. Participants are grouped based on age (ages 3 months to 12 years old) and each age group has 10 minutes to collect eggs. After each group has collected, open swim will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Registration is required and tickets can be purchased at bolingbrookparks.org.

Otis' Flashlight Egg Hunt

When: 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Thursday, April 18

Where: Hidden Oaks Nature Center, 419 Trout Farm Road

Details: Don't forget to bring a flashlight, or you'll have a hard time seeing the eggs in this Easter egg hunt. The hunt for eggs will occur rain or shine, so dress for the weather! Register by Monday, April 15 at bolingbrookparks.org for a $2 discount.
