Bolingbrook Fifth-Grader Is State Wrestling Champ

He was one of 602 wrestlers ages 8, 9 and 10 who competed at the Midget State Championship March 18 and 19.

BOLINGBROOK, IL -- Wood View Elementary fifth-grade wrestler Dominic Hargrove is the new state champ after winning the Midget State Championship in Danville, Illinois.

Dominic wrestles for the Bolingbrook Junior Raiders Wrestling Club, part of the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation, led by head coach Elias Medina and assistant coach Donny Simpson.

His record for the season stands at 34 wins, two losses. He completed in the 89-pound weight class and was in a 32-man bracket.

Dominic has been wrestling for six years, according to mom Dominique Hargrove, and made it to the finals in 2016 as well, taking second place.
