Bolingbrook Still Has Third-Most New COVID-19 Cases In Will Co.

According to the WCHD, Bolingbrook reported 430 new coronavirus cases during the week of Dec. 7, following Plainfield with 498 cases.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Bolingbrook still has the third-highest number of new coronavirus cases in Will County, public health data shows. According to the Will County Health Department, Bolingbrook reported 430 new cases during the week of Dec. 7, following Joliet with 722 cases and Plainfield with 498.

Throughout November, the village has had the third-most number of weekly cases. The weekly number of cases reported were:

  • Week of Nov. 2 - 257
  • Week of Nov. 9 - 452
  • Week of Nov. 16 - 424
  • Week of Nov. 23 - 336
  • Week of Nov. 30 - 410

State officials imposed new restrictions across Illinois after a surge in coronavirus cases, but the upward trend has continued in Bolingbrook. The village is also showing high coronavirus positivity rates across all zip codes, along with high average number of cases reported per 100,000 people.

According to data gathered from the Illinois Department of Public Health, as of Monday, the east side of the village (zip code 60440) has an average 7-day rolling COVID-19 positivity rate of 9.45 percent, whereas the west side (zip code 60490) is at 10.84 percent.

The weekly new case rate per 100,000 people is at 533 for Bolingbrook-east and 358 for Bolingbrook-west.

The WCHD on Tuesday reported 47,671 coronavirus cases, an increase of 386 from Monday, and 650 reported deaths from the virus, an increase of 11 over the same period.
