Bolingbrook Students Collect Almost $2,700 to Help Local Families

Effort was part of the Humphrey Helping Hands program.

Thanks to the Humphrey Helping Hands program, the holidays will be brighter for nearly two dozen Humphrey Middle School families.

With 7th grade teacher Claudine Sharko once again heading up the campaign, Humphrey students, staff and local businesses contributed a record $2,687 during the three-week fundraising effort. The money was used to purchase winter coats, toys, books, gift cards to local grocery stores and other items for families.

Elves who assisted this year were Judy Elmore, Bridget James, Heather Eck, Jen Thom, Jana Reeves, Mary Kuliavas, Karen Manak, Kathy Fritz, Sandi Saracco, Margot McNulty, Bridget Chochole, Letitia Sanborn and Kelly Williams.

Mrs. Mayer’s science classes collected money from their penny races and State Sen. Pat McGuire helped out financially as well.

Local businesses that contributed to the success included DuPage Township, St. Benedict’s Church, 3Vue, LLC., Array Enterprises, American Legion Post BB 1288, Naper Brook Plumbing, J. Hassert Landscaping, Interra, Inc., Diamond Rigging Corp, Franciscan Sisters, Andy’s Custard, Meijer, Buffalo Wild Wings, Costco, Papa’s Pizza Place, Brunswick Zone, Rick’s Landscaping, USA Skate Center, Bolingbrook Golf Club, and Triune Clinical Center.
