Boy Injured in Macy's Escalator Accident

5-year-old rushed to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital.

A 5-year-old boy got his hand caught in an escalator at the Promenade Bolingbrook Macy’s store Wednesday night.

According to an eye witness, the incident happened at about 8 p.m. on the second floor up escalator inside the store.

Andrea Schwartz, a Macy's spokeswoman, said a store employee pushed the panic button on the escalator to stop it, and a crew began working immediately to dismantle it as fire and police personnel were called.
