Community Corner

Farewell, Bolingbrook! (From Your Local Editor, Melissa Sersland)

Thank you for everything. Keep making Bolingbrook Patch the place for news and conversation in your community.

Today is my last day as local editor of Bolingbrook Patch. It is also three years to the day that I started my first job as the local editor of Woodridge Patch.

So much has happened since then -- severe storms, murder, fires, Drew Peterson's conviction, crime, school news, community events and more.

This site has become an extension of myself and leaving is not easy. But I know what makes Bolingbrook Patch such a success is the connection I have been fortunate enough to have built with you, my wonderful readers.

Thank you for every kind word, news tip and photo over the past year. You make Patch great. Please continue to let Patch know what's happening around town. Post on our boards. Make sure to post your events, and become a local voice to promote your community group or to share your own view of the village.

In my absence, you can reach out to Steven Jack at steven.jack@patch.com.

I'll leave you with the piece of content I am most proud of -- the Bolingbrook Patch 2012 Person of the Year profile of Debbie Caputo, posted just days before her death.

Showcasing wonderful people like Debbie is why I got into journalism, and it's what I'll cherish most from the year I spent as your local editor.

Thanks again,
Melissa
