A 700,000-square-foot RoomPlace warehouse (formerly known as Harlem Furniture), located at 2501 Internationale Pkwy, was ablaze Thursday evening. Lemont Fire Protection Chief George Rimbo confirmed a three-alarm that began around 5 p.m. and was still burning into Friday morning. Firefighters worked the fire overnight. The building is a total loss, with the roof and walls collapsing.
No one was reported to be injured in the fire. About 50 people reportedly were evacuated from the building.
Rimbo told reporters ATF will investigate the fire's cause due to the huge amount of damage.
