Happy Mother’s Day To Jeanne DiCostanzo

In celebration of Mother's Day on Sunday May 13, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their mother and let us deliver it. This is Savanna DiCostanzo's letter to her mom:

Since I was a little girl, my mom, Jeanne DiCostanzo, has been my best friend. She was a stay-at-home mom growing up, and to this day I feel a stronger closeness to her because of her presence from a very young age.

She later went back to work and began doubling her responsibilities, and she’s a superstar for that. The way she raised my sister and I has had an impact on our entire family. We have always felt the importance of family and honesty.

I tell my mom everything; she really is my best friend. She listens to me, supports me, gives me her advice and input and backs me up, and that’s all I could ever ask for.

As a teenager, I have gone through things that have stressed me out, but my mom has always made it better. It makes a huge difference in a person’s life when they feel like they have a genuine support system and a source of love. I have never had to feel alone or wonder what it’s like to be so isolated from a mom. She has taught me that being a parent is hard work, but it pays off when your children become people that reflect the goodness in you.

My mom is fantastic, and I’m blessed to have her in my life. I have so much ahead of me thanks to her, and I smile at the thought of having her by my side through all of it.
