I-55 Workzone Removal Begins Nov. 23: Dept. Of Transportation
The Workzone on I-55 south of Arsenal Road will begin being removed on Saturday, Nov. 23.
WILL COUNTY, IL — News release from the Illinois Department of Transportation: "The work zone that has reduced I-55 to a single lane in each direction will begin to be removed starting Saturday, Nov. 23. The entire process will take place over several days, with two lanes scheduled to reopen in both directions by Wednesday, Nov. 27, weather permitting.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
Work will resume next spring with the closure of the northbound bridge and traffic crossing over to the southbound lanes to again accommodate one lane in each direction."
