In Romeoville, although radar indicated rotation near the village — signaling the potential for a tornado and prompting tornado sirens to sound — Mayor John Noak said no tornadoes had been confirmed to have touched down as of late afternoon. However, public works crews were out in several areas removing debris that caused streets to flood, the village said Monday afternoon.

In the Village of Plainfield, a snapped utility pole prompted the shutdown of 135th Street, Fire Chief Jon Stratton told Patch. The road was closed east of Plainfield Fire Station 2, 23806 135th St., and Naperville Road. Rivercrest Court off Naperville-Plainfield Road was also closed due to a downed pole, police said. Stratton said downed limbs and flooding had occurred in several areas.

In Joliet, tornado sirens sounded twice on Monday — but the second time was an error, according to Joliet police, who had this to say on Facebook: "The outdoor warning siren system activation that occurred earlier today (5/27/19) at approximately 4:30pm was not activated by the City Of Joliet. The outdoor warning siren system was activated in error by an system that monitors the weather alerts in conjunction with the National Weather Service. Due to the unintended siren activation, the City of Joliet is working with the administrators of the system to prevent this from happening again. As of now, until the issue is resolved, any emergency alerts will be sent directly from our communication center. We understand the community's concern and appreciate your understanding on this matter."

Resident Sarah Ninnemann shot this video of a funnel cloud forming over Romeoville on Memorial Day.
