Man Dies After Jumping from I-355 Overpass Near Bolingbrook
He was pronounced dead Tuesday night.

LEMONT, IL — A 24-year-old Naperville man died Tuesday after he reportedly jumped from the I-355 overpass.
Joseph E. DeCanto was pronounced dead at 7:50 p.m. near southbound I-355 at milepost 10.5, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.
“Mr. DeCanto was witnessed falling from the bridge overpass to the ground,” the coroner’s office said. He died from multiple injuries sustained in the fall.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. G. Minx told the Chicago Tribune that DeCanto was traveling with his mother and brother when he exited the vehicle and jumped over a barrier wall.
A final cause and manner of death will be determined at a later date pending toxicology and police reports. The Illinois State Police is investigating.

According to DeCanto’s obituary, he was born in Nashville, Tennessee and graduated from UIC-Chicago with a business and marketing degree. He enjoyed golfing, lawn care, outdoor activities and small engine repair.
The family thanked Dr. Keith Avery for his “continuous support and care” and asked that memorial contributions be made to Mental Health America and the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
In October, another Naperville man died after he jumped from an elevated section of I-355.
