Meet Jose Quintero, Candidate for Bolingbrook Village Trustee

Quintero hopes to serve the community and promises a commitment to transparency, accountability, and a forward-thinking mentality.

Meet Jose Quintero, candidate for Bolingbrook Village Trustee with the Bolingbrook United party.

Originally from Durango, Mexico, Jose immigrated to the United States at the age of 5. He attended English as a second language classes to learn the English language. Jose started his higher education at College of DuPage and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Jose’s natural work ethic at age 19 helped him to become the youngest Operations Manager in the company's history for Intercontinental Hotels Group at Candlewood Suites. Since that time Jose has risen to become the VP of Operations and Business Development for Windson Hospitality Group and a respected member of the Hospitality Industry. Within the local community, Jose has become a proven business leader as he helped to build and launch the new Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, including through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jose’s job requires him to serve as a mediator of sorts between the ownership and the franchise to ensure both sides not only make money but that the owners follow the franchise guidelines and standards. Mr. Quintero is also charged with the responsibilities of building employee retention. He states he encourages it by “always aiming to treat the company’s employees like they are family”. By doing so he finds that employees work harder to guarantee success of the company. In this respect Mr. Quintero fought hard over the past year to retain as many employees as possible (95%), despite the substantial downturn in hotel occupancy caused by the pandemic.

In discussing his role and seeing his company through the challenges of the last year he stated, “I see the commitment we have shown to our employees as not just an investment in the success of the company, but one for our future. Keeping employees at work not only keeps food on the table for their families, it means that when the economy bounces back, we will be better equipped as a company to thrive because of the investment we have made in our people.”

Jose has been married for nearly 20 years to Paola. He has two sons, one in 8th grade and one who is a freshman in high school. Both attend Valley View School District schools. Along with his American bulldog Meatball, the family has called Bolingbrook home for seven years.

Jose recognizes all that Bolingbrook has to offer. From enjoying family bike rides on our wonderful paths to watching and coaching soccer. Jose is an active member of Living Water Community Church, a member of the Bolingbrook Rotary and active participant in the Bolingbrook Chamber.

In making the decision to run for Village Trustee, Mr. Quintero states that he realized the “business as usual mentality was not effective for our community.” “While many things within the community work well, there is room for improvement. Too often I see elected officials polarizing themselves with just their supporters, financial donors, and political allies while everyone else is overlooked. If I am fortunate enough to be elected as Village Trustee, I will commit to transparency, accountability, and a forward-thinking mentality. I will fight to provide financial relief for the residents through all possible and legal avenues.”

Mr. Quintero states that he plans to work aggressively to engage all the residents in our community and educate them on local government operations. “I see the role of a Village Trustee as not only voting on issues that come before the board but serving as a constant connection between residents and village officials and services. Elected officials must be committed to improve day to day life in the community. If elected, I will rely on my professional background and experience to enhance our partnership with current and potential business owners to ensure that we have strong business base to support our community for generations to come.”
