Residents Should Stay Home Due To Flash Flood Warning In Illinois
The National Weather Service said residents should be alert for potentially life-threatening flash flooding.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — Heavy rainfall on Sunday has led to a flash flood warning for southern Lake County, Will County, Kankakee County, DuPage County and Cook County, effective until 10:15 p.m. A flash flood warning is also in effect for Kendall and eastern McHenry counties until 10:30 p.m.
As per the National Weather Service website, the DuPage River in Bolingbrook was recorded at 20.34 feet at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, and flood stage is 19.5 feet.
The NWS said residents should be alert for potentially life-threatening flash flooding and avoid low-lying and flood-prone areas. Drivers should not enter flood waters.
