Will County To Receive $4 Million In State Funding For Projects

The funding is part of the Rebuild Illinois Plan and brings job creation and improvements to roads, bridges and other areas to Will County.

BOLINGBROOK, IL – Bolingbrook and Romeoville are among the Will County locations that could see job creation as part of a series of county construction projects that will be funded by $4 million in state dollars over the next couple of years, State Sen. John Connor announced last week.

Connor (D-Crest Hill) said that the funding is part of the Rebuild Illinois Plan, which was signed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker in 2019. The $4 million allocated for Will County will help to improve area roads, bridges and other projects that are included under the bill.

“This funding will help bring jobs to the Joliet, Bolingbrook and Romeoville areas for the next few years and will result in reliable infrastructure throughout the county for years to come,” Connor said in a news release issued by his office last week. “Not only will we have the opportunity to strengthen our roads and bridges thanks to these grants, but we will be able to strengthen our communities and our economy.”

Connor said in the release that the funding will be paid out over six installments over the next three years. As a result, Will County residents will see improvements made to roads, bridges, sidewalks and bike paths, he said. Also included in the project are upgraded traffic signals and other improvements that are included in the plan.

“The 43rd District has been hit hard by COVID-19, and I know that many communities in the district are having a hard meeting the constantly-rising costs of the pandemic,” Connor said in the release. “The additional funding from the state will allow us to give those communities a much-deserved helping hand during these unprecedented times.”
