Woman Throws Meat Cleaver, Knife at Estranged Husband: Police

Marisol Guadarrama-Sotelo, 20, faces felony domestic battery charges after injuring the victim above the eye.

A 40-year-old man was hurt above the eye after his estranged wife threw a meat cleaver and a large kitchen knife at him during an argument Monday morning, according to police reports.

Marisol Guadarrama-Sotelo, 20, of the 400 block of Independence Lane, was arrested by Bolingbrook police and charged with aggravated domestic battery, a felony, the report stated.

The victim was treated for his injury at an area hospital, the report added.

Police arrived at Guadarrama-Sotelo’s house at about 10:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, in response to a domestic disturbance call, the report stated. Once there, police were told that Guadarrama-Sotelo invited the victim into her home, the report added. She then asked for the victim to leave, but he refused, the report stated.

Guadarrama-Sotelo went outside and began hitting and kicking the victim’s car, the report stated, which brought the victim outside, as well. Guadarrama-Sotelo then went back inside her home and returned with a large kitchen knife and a meat cleaver.

Standing at the door, she threw both kitchen blades at her estranged husband. The cleaver missed, but the knife hit the man above his right eye, the report stated.
