2 Burr Ridge Restaurants Appear Open After Hours: Cops

The manager for one of the restaurants says no customers remain after 11 p.m.

BURR RIDGE, IL — Restaurants and bars must be closed from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. under the governor's order on the pandemic.

But Burr Ridge police identified two restaurants on Dec. 22 that appeared to have customers after 11 p.m. In an interview, the manager for one of them told Burr Ridge Patch that this wasn't the case.

At 11:35 p.m., an officer drover by Capri Ristorante, 324 Burr Ridge Parkway, and saw 10 cars still in the lot, according to a police report. A few customers left from the business, but others were apparently still inside, the report said.

At 11:45 p.m., the same officer drove through the parking lot at Dao Sushi & Thai, 200 Burr Ridge Parkway, and saw four cars, three or four people standing by the bar, and one seated at the bar, the report said.

The officer did not indicate in his report that he spoke to anyone at the restaurants. Like most police departments, Burr Ridge's is not enforcing the governor's order, saying that's the jurisdiction of county health departments.

In an interview Thursday, Dao manager Robert Finley said the restaurant does not have customers after 11 p.m. He said the kitchen closes at 8:30 p.m., so customers can be out by an hour later. After work, employees work at the bar and talk, he said.

"That's an easy spot to do work," he said.

Capri Ristorante's management has not returned messages for comment.
