DuPage County fishers, kayakers and water-lovers can get involved in protecting the area waterways through the Adopt-a-Stream program.
The kick-off event will take place Thursday, Sept 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Conservation Foundation’s McDonald Farm, according to a news release. The event is co-hosted by The Conservation Foundation and DuPage County Stormwater Management.
Attendees will learn about cleanup and monitoring of local waterways, improving water quality and they can tour green infrastructure at the farm.
“Between the Adopt-a-Stream program and annual DuPage River Sweep, local stewards have made a great difference to the quality of our waterways,” said DuPage County Stormwater Management Committee Chairman Jim Zay in the news release. “Each year, participation in these programs increases and the amount of debris found during cleanups decreases. It’s important that we keep this momentum going.”
The Conservation Foundation’s McDonald Farm is located at 10S404 Knoch Knolls Rd., Naperville. To register, please email sgeorge@theconservationfoundation.org.
