Allegedly Naked, Attempted Scam: Burr Ridge Cops

Man was reported as naked and unconscious, but that was not the case, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent times, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving an allegedly naked man, an attempted $16,700 scam, an I-pass theft, people trapped in an elevator, a fugitive motorcyclist and a suspicious door knocker. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:

Allegedly naked

  • Police received a report that a naked man was unconscious inside a black SUV in the parking lot at SpringHill Suites, 15W090 N. Frontage Road, about 11:30 p.m. May 20. An officer spoke with the man, who said he was tired from driving for Uber and pulled into SpringHill Suites. He was fully dressed and said he felt fine.

Attempted $16,700 scam

  • A resident on Longwood Drive received a call from a "William Morris," who attempted to scam her out of $16,700 that she supposedly needed to pay for her son's bond after he was arrested for causing a personal injury accident. She called her son and realized it was a scam. She was not out any money, but wanted the incident documented. She filed the report May 18.

I-Pass theft

  • A resident on Trent Court told police that someone used her I-Pass from November to April without her authorization. She reported the crime May 18. The charges amounted to $160. She said her I-Pass was stolen from her car. She contacted I-Pass and canceled her account.

Wrong day

  • A resident on Ridgewood Lane said a man came by her house about 3 p.m. May 18 claiming to be from a health care facility to treat the resident's elderly father. The resident felt this was odd because the facility did not have an appointment. The man left. She later called the company, who said the man was from the business but arrived on the wrong day.

Almost made it

  • An officer saw a 2012 Chevrolet with its hazard lights on about 9:30 p.m. May 18 near Bridewell Drive and Burr Ridge Parkway. The car's owner said she was scheduled to take her car to the dealer for an engine recall the next day, but her car did not make it. Her car made loud noises and died shortly after.

Trapped in elevator

  • Two people were trapped in an elevator about 9 a.m. May 19 in a building on McClintock Drive. The fire department was able to open the doors. Both people were fine.

Signs removed

  • An officer removed six signs about 3 a.m. May 21 that were in the right of way near County Line and Plainfield roads. The signs were advertising a forced auction. They were in violation of the village's sign ordinance. The signs were placed in the Village Hall garage.

Arguing guests

  • Two guests at Crowne Plaza, 300 S. Frontage Road, were arguing in their room about 9:30 a.m. May 20. Both guests left before police arrived. An officer called a woman involved in the argument. She said she had a misunderstanding with her boyfriend and that there was no need for police assistance.

Runaway rider

  • An officer tried to stop a motorcyclist about 11:30 a.m. May 20 near 80th Street and South County Line Road. The motorcycle had no registration. The rider appeared to be pulling over, but then took off heading south on County Line Road. The officer did not pursue the rider after passing German Church Road. The officer notified other agencies. Willow Springs police also tried to stop the motorcyclist, but he sped away from them as well.

Loud music

  • An officer asked four youths about 1 p.m. May 20 in the 8500 block of Walredon Avenue whether they would lower their music device. They said they would.

Suspicious door knocker

  • A resident on Shag Bark Lane told police that a man was knocking at his door about 9:30 a.m. May 22 and that he did not know who he was. An officer came by and found the man was making a scheduled delivery to the house.

Parking dispute

  • A man who was set to clean the carpets at ATI Physical Therapy, 120 Burr Ridge Parkway, about 8 p.m. May 22 asked someone from Capri Express to move a 2010 Lexus, so the carpet cleaners could get into the back door of ATI. The car's owner was verbally aggressive and wouldn't move the car. Two officers spoke with the owner, who had someone move the Lexus.

Fallen and drunk

  • An officer found an intoxicated man and woman sitting in the grass early Sunday morning near Burr Ridge Parkway and McClintock Drive. They said they were walking back to the Marriott hotel, and the woman fell. She declined an ambulance. Someone arrived to help them back to the Marriott.
