Burr Ridge Concert Planned Friday

Mayor says he prefers to call the event a "performance."

BURR RIDGE, IL — The Burr Ridge village government is planning to hold the "Concert on the Lot" on Friday night. "Concert" implies a lot of people close together — not the type of event held during the last two months of the pandemic.

But Friday marks a new phase in the state's response to the coronarvirus. Outdoor dining is resuming and businesses are reopening, with social distancing guidelines in place.

In a text message to Patch on Thursday, Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso said "performance" is probably more descriptive of the event than "concert."

"This is an example of adjusting words and descriptions to the New Normal," Grasso said. "Burr Ridge and restaurants will only allow gatherings of 10 or less per the guidelines."

Concert on the Lot will be 6 to 9 p.m. at 200 Burr Ridge Parkway, next to Dao Japanese Steakhouse. Veteran Trio will perform, according to the advertisement on the village's website.

Starting Friday, the village is expected to have tents around County Line Square, Stix & Stones and Eddie Merlot's for outdoor dining, according to the mayor's daily bulletin on the coronavirus Thursday. Not all restaurants are planning to take reservations and offer table-side service. Cooper's Hawk and Hampton Social are not offering outdoor dining yet.

In the bulletin, Grasso said he would take part in a formal kick-off event for evening outdoor dining at 6 p.m. at County Line Square with his face covering on.
