Burr Ridge Mayor On Stay-At-Home Order
Grasso says he hopes governor does not extend order, but expects that he must.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge Mayor Gary Grasso said Tuesday he hoped Gov. J.B. Pritzker would not extend his stay-at-home order beyond April. But he said he expected the governor would do so because the curve is not bending fast enough to lift it.
"Numerous reports suggests he is trying to find ways to open certain businesses back up, but that is a logistics challenge fraught with possibly reversing the curve of positive patients," Grasso said in his daily bulletin on the coronavirus. "Reopening the economy is a very narrow needle to thread, and it will take great consideration as to how this is done."
As of Tuesday, Burr Ridge had 53 cases of the coronavirus, according to health authorities. As of Sunday, Harvester Place assisted living facility had 24 reported cases of the coronavirus and four deaths, according to state figures. And Brookdale Burr Ridge nursing home had a dozen cases and two deaths.

"The incidence of death in senior centers remains disproportionately high compared to the general population. That is sad; the virus preys on our elderly populations, those whom we owe respect and thanks for all they have done to pave the way for us," the mayor said.
Grasso said several people have contacted him about getting face masks.

"The simple answer is that we do not have them — and those few we are able to procure are for our police officers," the mayor said.
Grasso noted the governor is advocating the use of face coverings — any material covering your nose and mouth. Wearing any form of face covering, the mayor said, is significantly better than not doing so.
Grasso is one of the few mayors issuing daily bulletins on the pandemic.
