Burr Ridge School Zone Flashing Light Prompts Concern
A Burr Ridge trustee wants to know why a school zone light is flashing all the time.

BURR RIDGE, IL — A Burr Ridge official on Monday asked why the school zone sign's light at Pleasantdale Middle School flashes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Trustee Guy Franzese brought up his concern at a Village Board meeting on Monday. He asked village staff to reach out to the school district to figure out what the problem is.
Franzese said that if drivers on Wolf Road see the lights flashing all the time, they may become desensitized to it and not take extra care when schoolchildren are actually around.

He asked that the light be tailored to when the schoolchildren are outside Monday through Friday.
In an interview Monday, Dave Palzet, superintendent of Pleasantdale School District 107, said a power outage caused the flashing light to stay on all the time. The problem was fixed after a few days, he said.

"We try to minimize the time it flashes," Palzet said.
Now, the light is on in the morning during summer school.
