Burr Ridge's Low Bid Just $10.70 Cheaper
The difference between the two lowest quotes is less than the state's minimum wage.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge sought three quotes for its cleaning services recently, with the process resulting in an unusual outcome.
The highest quote was $85,000 for the year. The two other quotes were far lower and much closer to each other. Elmhurst's Eco Clean Maintenance came in at $32,496, while Burr Ridge's City Wide Facility Solutions edged it out at $32,485.30. That's a difference of $10.70.
The difference is so small that it is dwarfed by the state's $11 minimum wage.

The current contractor, Eco Clean, offered to renew its contract with the village at its current rates. Burr Ridge sought quotes from the two other companies, according to a village memo.
The village said it decided to seek quotes that combine the routine and annual cleanings with the bimonthly sanitation services for the police department lockup and holding cells. Officials figured this would enhance service levels and reduce village staff time managing separate contractors, according to the memo.
The village said it reviewed City Wide's references and found similar work was being performed satisfactorily for the village of Willowbrook and Nanophase Technologies, the village's tenant in the west half of the public works building at 451 Commerce St.
According to the memo, Eco Clean's quote was done jointly with ServiceMaster Commercial Cleaning of Carol Stream.
The village memo said, "It is staff's recommendation to change vendors due to City Wide being able to provide all required services under a single contract with a sole point of contact for all service needs at a comparable cost."
