District 86 Honored with 2013 Bright Red Apple for Educational Excellence

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 was recently honored with the 2013 Bright Red Apple Award for Educational Excellence, according to a press release.Â
The award is based on five family-favored categories including academic performance, pupil-teacher ratio, operating expenditure per pupil, educational level of teachers and average teacher salary.Â

The district was among the 78 Illinois schools to be honored out of 866 school districts.Â
There criteria for the school award are:

- Teachers with Master’s degree or above must be equal to or greater than 61.7 percent
- Pupil to teacher ratio must be equal to or less than 18:8:1
- Average teacher salary must be equal to or greater than $66,614
- Operating expenditure per pupil must be equal to or greater than $11,664
- ACT composite score of all students tested must be equal to or greater than 21.3
