Dog Custody Fight, Fall From Horse: Burr Ridge Cops
Woman is fighting to get dog back from her ex-boyfriend, police say.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Burr Ridge police dealt with five issues involving animals in recent days. Here is information from the reports:
Dog custody dispute
- A resident in the area of 16W100 block of 93rd Place called police Feb. 23 to report that her ex-boyfriend took possession of Remington, a 1-year-old golden doodle, after they broke up in December. He is refusing to give the dog back. She said she bought Remington for $700 on Dec. 14, 2019, while they were dating. The ex-boyfriend told an officer that the woman got Remington for him as a Christmas gift in 2019, but he said he would be open to giving Remington back. The officer informed the woman of the response, and the woman said she would arrange a time to take custody of Remington.

- A resident on 59th Street was taken by ambulance to the Hinsdale hospital Feb. 23 after she complained of back and head pain from falling from her horse. She said she was riding her horse in the arena when the horse became spooked and suddenly stopped, throwing her to the ground.
Worried about dog
- A resident in the 16W200 block of 94th Street told police Feb. 24 her neighbor's German shepherd named Kaiser was running at large the previous night and defecated on her lawn. The neighbor said this often happens, but Kaiser recently became more aggressive. The resident said she was worried the German shepherd will hurt her dog or child. The neighbor admitted that his dog got out the previous night. He was issued a citation for having a dog at large.

- A person said a large dog in the 8100 block of Lake Ridge Drive chased him and his dogs down the street Monday. He asked that police check on the offending dog, a cane corso. When an officer visited, the dog was friendly. The owner said she was unaware that the dog went through the electric fence and that she would make sure it wouldn't happen again.
Dog in distress?
- A resident in the 400 block of Kenmare Drive told police about 2 p.m. Feb. 26 that a dog appeared to be in distress inside a 2016 Nissan. An officer spoke with the owner, who said he ran into an estate sale for a few minutes. The officer said the dog did not appear to be in distress.
