Fight Over Baby, Big Tow Bill: Burr Ridge Cops

A couple got into a scuffle over who would take the baby to see the doctor, report says.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police responded to cases involving a fight over a baby, a big tow bill, construction trucks, a suspicious person, a fishing complaint, a gift card scam and a possible robbery suspect. Here is information from the latest police reports:

Fight over baby

  • A man and a woman got into argument about 3:30 p.m. April 23 at Loyola Medicine Burr Ridge, 6800 N. Frontage Road. They were fighting over who got to take their baby inside to the doctor. The man tried to get the baby from the back seat, but the woman grabbed at his hands, resulting in a small cut from her fingernail. He then pushed her with his shoulder to get her away. Neither wished to press charges. They were separated, and he got an Uber to his mother's house to avoid further argument.

  • A resident on Carriage Way Drive told police April 19 she received permission from a neighbor, via text message, that she could park one of her cars in his parking spot. However, her car was later towed. She was upset with a $1,000 tow bill and wanted to know whether there was anything she could do about the issue. An officer told the woman it was a civil issue because it was on private property.

Construction trucks issue

  • A resident on 63rd Street complained April 19 about construction trucks parked on the street. The workers were putting in a pool on Sunset Ridge Road. The homeowner had a permit for the vehicles parking on the street.

  • The owner of Chicago Canine Club, 16W129 83rd St., told police April 20 a person in a dark SUV parks behind the business after hours. The man leaves his car and walks around the area, eventually sitting on a bench near the front of the business. The man does not damage anything or attempt to enter the business. The owner requested an extra patrol during the night.

Fishing complaint

  • A resident called about 5 p.m. April 24 about a family fishing at the pond near 79th Street and Chasemoor Drive. A person and three of his friends were leaving the pond when an officer arrived. They agreed not to fish in the pond again and departed.

Gift card scam

  • A resident in the 8700 block of Wedgewood Drive told police April 21 that he called what he thought was an eBay customer support number that he found in a Google search, so he could return a book. He spoke with a woman who identified herself as Erin Parker for eBay customer support. Parker was able to talk the resident into buying two eBay gift cards for $300. He gave Parker the gift card's scratch-off code. He realized it was a scam after not receiving a confirmation email and speaking to an actual eBay representative.

Possible robbery suspect

  • An officer saw a woman in a 2019 Nissan Sentra about 12:30 a.m. April 26 at Speedway at Route 83 and 91st St. The woman then drove away and parked on the side of Shell at Route 83 and South Frontage Road. After the woman saw the officer, she headed north on Interstate 55, last seen passing La Grange Road. A records search showed the car and the driver were involved in an armed robbery Sept. 19 in Wheaton.

Husky named Hercules

  • A resident in the 15W400 block of 60th Place told police about noon Wednesday about a husky wearing a harness running free between neighboring back yards. Upon arrival, an officer found that the owner reunited with the husky, which is named Hercules. The owner lives in the 6000 block of Sedgley Court. The owner was warned for having a dog at large.
