Fishing Feud, Loud Party: Burr Ridge Cops
Youths upset with a resident threw beheaded fish in back patio, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — Recently, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving a beheaded fish, a loud party, a truck dispute, a hit-and-run and a construction issue. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:
Beheaded Fish
- A resident on Southgate Court told police about two youths fishing in the ponds near his house about 4:30 p.m. June 6. He also said they beheaded a fish and threw it on his back patio. An officer spoke with the youths, who said they would not fish in the ponds again.
Loud party

- Police received a complaint about a loud party about 10 p.m. June 5 in the 6000 block of South Grant Street. The resident said she would turn down the music. She also informed everyone the party was over.
Driving slowly past
- A resident in the 6500 block of Hillcrest Drive reported that three or four men in a car drove slowly past her house twice about 7:30 p.m. June 2. Officers were unable to find the men.

- A woman said she noticed an open front door of a house in the 9300 block of Falling Waters Drive East about 6:30 p.m. June 2. An officer checked the house and found no signs of forced entry. The officer contacted the homeowner, who requested the officers check the main floor, secure the front door and leave a side door unlocked for her son to enter as he was coming from far away to check the house. Police left the side door open.
Singing and fine
- Officers checked on a man about 1 p.m. June 3 near 91st Street and Skyline Drive. The man was singing and said he was fine. He refused to provide officers with his information.
Truck dispute
- An employee of Mn89 Inc., 16W485 S. Frontage Road, told police June 3 that a former employee did not return a truck and trailer after being fired. An officer spoke with the former employee, who said the business can pick up the truck and trailer at his home in Arkansas after he is paid. Police said it was a civil matter.
Youths causing trouble?
- A caretaker at Hanson Center, 15W431 59th St., told police that a large group of youths made loud noises and dropped a street sign at the center about 1 a.m. June 4. An officer found a group of youths at a house in the 5900 block of Garfield Avenue. The resident said he had some friends over. The homeowner said he was sleeping and unaware his son had so many friends over. The officer spoke with a number of youths outside the house. All the youths said they knew nothing about a street sign being pulled out.
Cited in hit-and-run
- A resident in the 6200 block of Cove Creek Court saw a brick mailbox in the block get knocked down by the driver of a 2001 Ford about 8:30 a.m. June 4. The driver then left without giving information. An officer found the driver, identified as Manuel L. Lopez, and cited him.
Illegal construction
- Police were told June 5 about construction in the 15W300 block of 87th Street while a "no work" order was posted on the front door. An officer saw a worker from Campos Landscaping using a Bobcat to take down trees and other brush on the far south end of the property. The officer told the worker about the order, and he departed. The officer said he would notify the village's code enforcement officer.
Merely gardening
- Police received a report of a person crouching in the bushes about 9 p.m. June 7 near 79th Street and Wolf Road. The person said she was trimming bushes on her property.
