Their program aligns with the Illinois Early Learning and Development standards, developed by the Illinois State Board of Education. Grand Avenue directors also keep in regular contact with local area grade schools to use the same teaching tools as they do, including Jolly Phonics© and Handwriting without Tears© to ensure a smooth transition to kindergarten.
Grand Avenue programs focus on the development of the whole child, fully preparing them academically, socially and emotionally for their elementary education years. They strive to nurture self-esteem and independence in each child and to set the stage for future learning through a positive first experience at school. In addition to social and emotional development, curriculum at Grand Avenue also includes math, language arts, natural sciences, music, art and fine/gross motor stimulation.
Grand Avenue is a local, family-owned business and directors are on site at each location every day. The school is very proud to have a high retention rate of experienced teachers and each teacher at Grand Avenue receives required in-service training each year.
