Hinsdale South's Special Olympics Team Wins Soccer State Championship
The Special Olympics Soccer team took first place in the Division 4 competition.

Hinsdale Township High School District 86 today congratulated the Hinsdale South High School Special Olympics Soccer Team for winning the state championship at the Summer Games. The Summer Games were held at Illinois State University in Bloomington-Normal from June 12 through June 14.

The Special Olympics Soccer team took first place in the Division 4 competition beating Adams County Stars and Stripes 3-0 then beating Shabbona Hammerhead Sharks 6-0.
“We played as one and won as one,” said Coach Adan Contreras. “This has been a successful year for this core group of athletes. First they won a state championship in basketball and now a state championship in soccer. Every coach dreams of getting a chance to coach such dedicated athletes. We are extremely proud of them. Go Hornets!”

The soccer team players are: Enrique Aguirre (Sr), George Alexander (Fr), Juan Carrera (Sr), Saul Chavez (Soph), Ruben Lara (Soph), Jesus Lopez (Sr), Kevin O’Connor (Sr), Jazmin Patino (Jr), and Jose Ugalde (Soph).
