Jogger Followed, Illegal Dumping: Burr Ridge Cops

Woman says she was followed twice while running in the village, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL – In recent days, Burr Ridge police handled cases involving a woman being followed, illegal dumping, a drug offenses scam, a dog at large, threatening messages and sprinkling on the wrong day. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:

Woman followed

  • A woman said she was running near the Marriott about 7 p.m. June 9 when she saw a man in a black Chevrolet pickup following her. She said this was the second occurrence. The driver was described as white with fair skin, having blond hair and in his 30s. The Chevrolet logo on the rear is outlined in blue. The driver left after she started walking next to a stranger. A canvass of the area yielded no results.

Illegal dumping

  • A resident told police June 9 he had been picking up beer cans off his front lawn daily. He set up a camera and captured the driver of an Audi throwing a beer can out the window. An officer contacted the driver, who said he had no excuse for the littering. He was cited for illegal dumping of garbage.

Drug offenses scam

  • A resident on Westminister Drive received a phone call June 8 from agent “Allan Broady” that his bank accounts were being used in drug offenses. Broady asked for his bank account information, so he could confirm it was correct. At this point, the resident thought it was a scam and hung up the phone. He then received a call from the Burr Ridge Police Department phone number. The woman stated her name was “Tamara.” She said the department needed his account information for Broady. An officer told the resident it was a scam and not to give anyone his information over the phone.

Warning on dog at large

  • An officer returned a golden retriever about 11:30 p.m. June 8 to a resident in the 200 block of Kenmare Drive. Neighbors across the street found the dog wandering around. A warning was given.

Taking photos

  • A woman was reported to be in a Honda taking pictures on Mallory Court on June 8. Police were called more than an hour later and could not find the woman.

Threatening messages

  • A woman visited the police station June 9 to report that her ex-boyfriend sent threatening messages. The ex-boyfriend also claims he gave her a bottle of Xanax and that he wanted it back. An officer told the woman she could be charged with drug possession if she had no prescription. She said she gave the bottle to a friend. The officer told the woman the police department had a prescription disposal box.

Sprinkling on wrong day

  • Police were told that the sprinklers in the Oak Creek subdivision were going off on a non-sprinkling day June 10 near 91st Street and Garfield Avenue. An officer left a message with the the homeowners association president.
