King-Bruwaert House celebrates 87th anniversary with parade

Procession circles around King-Bruwaert campus

A celebratory parade marked the 87th anniversary of King-Bruwaert House (KBH) in Burr Ridge. A procession of Pleasantview Fire Protection vehicles and Burr Ridge police cars led a dozen decorated cars driven by staff and residents. With sirens blaring, horns honking and lights flashing, the parade of vehicles circled the expansive King-Bruwaert grounds twice to mark the special occasion. The procession brought smiles, waves and clapping from residents and neighbors who watched indoors from their windows or stood outside at safe distances.

A smaller parade of cars also drove past the Godair Park independent living homes located at 63rd and Madison streets in Burr Ridge. Godair Park is part of the King-Bruwaert retirement community that also includes assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing.

“This was a wonderful way to recognize our 87th year while keeping everyone safe,” said KBH CEO Terri Bowen. “We are very proud of our long, established history in the community and we share our enthusiasm in a positive way.”
