Neighbor Dispute, Pit Bull Incident: Burr Ridge Cops

Man yells at neighbor about using common hose, police say.

BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last few days, Burr Ridge police responded to a number of matters, including a neighbor dispute, a pit bull encounter, an upset customer, a 6-year-old's injury at a pool, dogs in a camper, a man sleeping near a school, a solicitor without a permit and a bank teller pressing the wrong button. Here is information from the latest police reports:

Neighbor dispute

  • A resident on Chestnut Hills Drive told police she got into a dispute with a neighbor about 3 p.m. June 18. She said she went to use a hose, which is common association property. The other resident yelled at her in an aggressive tone, stating he did not want anyone on his property or near his windows. She said the man yelled at her with a heavy accent and circled around her. She said the hose that was connected to his side of the property was the closest to her home.

Pit bull encounter

  • A woman was walking in the 11200 block of 74th Street about 2 p.m. June 19 when a brown and gray pit bull came running from a yard. The dog stopped in the middle of the street, growled and barked at her until a man she believed was the owner yelled at the dog. The dog returned to the owner behind the house. She was unsure if the man lives at the house because there has been a "for sale" sign for some time. She said she had never seen the dog before. She said she wanted to report the incident because it was near a school.

Upset customer

  • The owner of Benz Tek, 231 S. Frontage Road, wanted a police officer on hand while a customer picked up his car June 18 because the customer was angry about a price quote he had been given. The customer and his wife signed paperwork and left the business.

6-year-old strikes head

  • Tri-State medics responded to a 6-year-old who fell and struck his head on concrete near a pool about 3 p.m. June 18. He was awake and breathing and had a small bump on the back of his head.

Dogs in camper

  • A guest at Crowne Plaza, 200 S. Frontage Road, informed police June 18 that dogs were left in a camper and no one was inside. The owner then arrived and stated he went to the store. He said he lives in the camper with the dogs and that they were going to stay in the parking lot overnight. An officer told the man that Crowne Plaza would not allow him to stay overnight.

Sleeping near school

  • A man was sleeping near Pleasantdale School on Wolf Road about 7 a.m. Saturday. He told an officer he was walking home from a bar when he decided to rest. He said he did not need an ambulance. An officer provided the man a ride to his house on Garfield Avenue.

Fugitive driver

  • An officer tried to stop a black car for a traffic violation about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, but the driver sped away, heading north on Interstate 55 from Route 83.

Soliciting without permit

  • An officer spoke with a solicitor from Eco Shield about 11 a.m. Saturday in the 11500 block of Burr Oak Lane. The officer said the solicitor needed a permit to solicit in town. The solicitor said he understood and would no longer solicit without a permit.

Pressing wrong button

  • The panic button was accidentally pressed by a new teller about noon Saturday at a bank at 8300 S. Madison St. The teller was unaware of proper procedures.

Car burglary

  • Someone entered an unlocked 2017 Infiniti overnight Friday in a driveway in the 15W600 block of 74th Street. Stolen was a blue backpack containing shorts, sneakers and a pair of black Ray-Ban sunglasses. The resident did not want to pursue charges, but wanted the police to be aware of the incident.

Loud party

  • Police received a complaint about a loud party about 11 p.m. Saturday in the 15W100 block of 60th Street. The homeowner said he would have the DJ turn down the music. Another complaint was made less than an hour later. The homeowner again said he would have the music turned down. A third complaint came in about 12:30 a.m. Sunday. The homeowner told everyone the party was over, and he informed the DJ to go home.

Ding dong ditch?

  • A resident in the 8600 block of Crown Court said a group of teenagers in a golf cart were playing ding dong ditch shortly before midnight Saturday. Ding dong ditch is when someone rings a doorbell, then runs away. An officer found the teens and the golf cart in the 8500 block of Johnston. They denied ringing any doorbells. They were warned about driving the cart on the street.

Weaving walker

  • Police checked near 81st and Madison streets for a man who was reported to be walking in the middle of the road, possibly weaving and intoxicated. Officers were unable to find the man.
