Pleasantdale Middle School Battle of the Books Champs Advance to Inter-School Battle

Inter-School Battle Taking Place on Feb. 16th at Highlands Middle School

The 2017 Pleasantdale School District 107 Battle of the Books took place on the morning of Jan. 20 in the Pleasantdale Middle School Library in Burr Ridge. After nine teams of sixth, seventh and eighth grade students battled several rounds, two teams are moving on to the Inter-School Battle on Feb. 16 at Highlands Middle School in La Grange. This year, a friendly competition between Pleasantdale and four other LT feeder schools, Highlands Middle School, Gurrie Middle School, Park Junior High School, and McClure Middle School, will be held to determine a winner as the top two teams from each school are advancing to the final round.

Battle of the Books is a book club for students in grades 6-8 designed to encourage students to read a variety of quality fiction and nonfiction books. An emphasis is placed on critical reading skills and team-building as readers meet to discuss and answer questions from a list of books selected by the librarians in each of the five districts. Battlers must read 16 books as a team between October and January.
