BURR RIDGE, IL — In the last few days, Burr Ridge police responded to situations involving a man pondering life while on a utility box, loud graduates, a wallet theft, a fugitive motorcyclist, a loud house-warming party, a resident who left quietly and a homeowner's dispute with painters. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:

Pondering on perch

  • Two officers spoke with a resident from the 8200 block of Ridge Pointe Drive about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. He was standing on a utility box near Madison and 87th streets. He said he liked to do that while pondering life's mysteries. He left without any problems, saying he would find another spot to think.

  • Police were called to a park on Royal Drive after receiving a report that people were arguing about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Officers saw 10 to 20 people on the swings. No one was shouting or arguing. The people said they had just graduated from Hinsdale South and were all over 18. They said they had been loud when they were pushing each other on the swings. The officers told the people the park was closed and warned them for trespassing. One of the people said the group would head back to his house on Westminster Drive. The group left without any problems.

Suspecting workers in home

  • A resident in the 11600 block of Briarwood Lane told police Sunday that her 12-year-old son's bifold wallet was missing from a wooden box inside his bedroom closet. She said she believed a countertop installer may have taken it. She did not want to sign a complaint. The officer said he would follow up with the countertop company.

Fugitive motorcyclist

  • An officer attempted to stop a motorcyclist early Sunday morning near Route 83 and Central Avenue. But the rider sped away heading north on Route 83.

Belongings not gone after all

  • A customer at LifeTime fitness center, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway, told police Sunday that someone stole his blue hoodie and car keys from his gym locker. He said he didn't remember his exact locker number, but it ranged from 90 to 103. An officer found that the man's belongings were in local number 43.

A loud house-warming party

  • Police received reports of a loud party about 11 p.m. Sunday in the 100 block of Ashton Drive. The owner said the house-warming party was coming to an end and agreed to turn down the music.

No word from son

  • A resident on Hamilton Drive became concerned after not hearing from her son early Monday morning. It turns out he was taken into custody by Chicago police.

Neighbor left quietly

  • An 87th Street resident on Tuesday asked for a well-being check of his neighbors after he noticed their grass was long and that he received no answer at the door. Officers found the house appeared to be vacant and had a Realtor key box on the front door.

Painters vs. homeowner

  • A resident in the 9400 block of Fallingwaters Drive East requested the painters she hired from Barajas Painting leave her property. She would not provide any more information and became uncooperative with police. The three painters said they were still owed money. The officers told the painters it was a civil matter and that they would need to take the matter to court. They left without any problems.

Fake officer calls

  • A resident in the 200 block of Lakewood Circle told police Wednesday that she received a phone call from a person purporting to be an officer from Texas. The person said someone had her Social Security number and that she was "in trouble." The alleged Texas officer said the resident was involved in a robbery in Texas. But the resident said she's never been to Texas. The person then confirmed her Burr Ridge address and said he would be connecting her to the Burr Ridge Police Department. She said she then spoke to a man with a heavy accent who claimed he was with the Burr Ridge police. The man with the accent told her to call another number, keep that person on hold, go to her bank and withdraw all the money in her savings account. She figured it was a scam and is not out any money. She said she told the original person that she was leaving for Europe in a few days. A Burr Ridge officer suggested she enter a vacation watch online with the department.

Imposter Burr Ridge worker

  • A resident in the 8700 block of Grant Street said a man showed up at his door about 7 p.m. Tuesday. He held what looked like a meter, claiming to be with the Burr Ridge village government. The man said they were going to be spraying unharmful pesticides. The man did not have an identification and was not wearing a mask, so the resident did not let in the person.
