Possible LifeTime Prank, Guns Found: Burr Ridge Police
Police didn't find the joke with a woman's license plate so funny, report says.
BURR RIDGE, IL — In recent days, Burr Ridge police have handled cases involving a possible fitness center prank, guns found in a late grandfather's room, a late McDonald's run, a domestic battery and a complaint about a dog, among others. Here is information from Burr Ridge police reports:
Fitness center prank?
- An officer noticed a Ford truck with white tape covering the first and last numbers on both the front and back license plates March 30 at LifeTime fitness center, 601 Burr Ridge Parkway. An employee said she believed someone put the tape on the license plate as a joke. She said she knew nothing about it. An officer told the woman that it was illegal to have tape covering part of the license plate. The officer removed it.
Guns given to police

- A person on Sylvan Glen Court told police March 29 that he was cleaning his late grandfather's room and found some old guns and ammunition. He wanted to turn over the items to the police department for destruction. Officers had the person fill out a property sheet. They then packaged the guns and ammunition for destruction. They also ran information on the guns through a database.
Late McDonald's run
- An officer spoke with two people sitting in a 2011 Mercedes about 1 a.m. March 27 in the 6900 block of Madison Street. They said they were hanging out eating McDonald's food because they did not want to go home yet.
Domestic battery

- A woman told police March 27 that her boyfriend hit her while they were in downtown Chicago. He took her jacket and left the car at South Frontage and County Line roads in Burr Ridge. She said she would make a domestic battery report in Chicago.
Power outage
- During a power outage March 28, police were called about a power line on the ground between Fair Elms and Central avenues. An officer and the fire department blocked the roadway until ComEd arrived.
Abandoned child seats
- Officers saw two child car seats left unattended near the entrance at SpringHill Suites hotel, 15W090 N. Frontage Road, about 10 a.m. March 30. The front desk employee said the car seats had been out there since 7 a.m. Employees said they would place them in lost and found.
Dog complaint
- A resident on Clubside Court told police Wednesday that a big black dog at a nearby house was aggressively barking. When an officer arrived, the dog was not outside and no dog could be heard barking. The officer spoke with a person at the nearby house, who said the same resident keeps complaining about her dog and her neighbor's dogs. She denied they keep their dogs outside for long periods.
iPhone found
- A person found a black iPhone about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the road at Madison Street and High Grove Boulevard. The phone had no service and was password protected. The police were unable to call the emergency number to identify the phone number because the phone's screen would go black after a second of being turned on. The phone was placed in a temporary police locker.
